DESCRIPTION:Before bridge crossings spanned the Connecticut River\, almost two dozen ferries moved people and cargo from one bank to another in the state of Connecticut.\n\n\n\nThe oldest ferry passage launched in 1641\, and today you can still cross the River via ferry but only at two crossings. These modern ferries carry a combined 42\,000 cars and 100\,000 passengers each year\n\n\n\nBut how much do you know about these ferries   past\, present\, and future? Join Captain Paul Costello from the CT Department of Transportation as he draws upon decades of experience working on the River and sheds light on the story of Connecticut River ferries. Paul has been working on the Connecticut River for 22 years. He is currently captain for the Connecticut State Ferry Service on the Rocky Hill and Chester ferries. He has operated almost every commercial passenger vessel currently on the lower CT River\, including Becky Thatcher\, Adventure\, Lady Kate\, and the Connecticut River Museum's own RiverQuest!\n\n\n\nJoin us and become illuminated. The Connecticut River Museum may record this event\, including all questions\, comments\, etc. by the audience.
