Auditions for ages 12 - 14 for "The Love of three Oranges"

The Oddfellows Playhouse Junior Repertory Company announces auditions for Carlo Gozzi’s comic fantasy The Love of Three Oranges.

The auditions are open to all young people ages 12 -14 and will be held on Thursday, December 12, 4:30 – 6:00 pm at Oddfellows Playhouse at 128 Washington Street in Middletown.

The Love of Three Oranges, written in 1761, combines a traditional Italian fairy tale with the zany physicality and archetypal characters of the Commedia dell’ Arte. It has been performed around the world and was even turned into an opera by Sergei Prokofieff.

This production will be directed by Oddfellows’ Artistic Director Dic Wheeler, who is widely known for his commedia, circus and physical comedy productions with young people and adults.

Young people wishing to audition should pre-register by contacting the Playhouse. Auditioners do not need to prepare anything, but should arrive on time, dress to move, and plan on staying for the entire 90 minutes.

Everyone who auditions and commits to the rehearsal and production schedule will be cast in the play.
Rehearsals will begin January 13 and will be Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:30 – 6 pm. Performance dates are March 12 – 14.  There will be daily rehearsals March 8 – 11.

There is no cost to audition, but tuition for the Junior Repertory Company is $250. Financial aid is available to any family that needs it.
