From 3 to 5 pm, take a hay ride of the Palmer-Warner property with George Ballek of Ballek's Garden Center, check out classic cars courtesy of the Lambda Car club-Nutmeg Chapter, partake in festive lawn games, & enjoy Chet's Italian Ice. From 4 to 5 pm, taste signature cocktails & get a behind-the-scenes look at the Palmer-Warner House collection. From 5 to 7 pm, savor an al fresco raw bar provided by Jon Fish & autumnal picnic sides. 
 
The 50-acre Palmer-Warner property in East Haddam was home to preservation architect Frederic Palmer & his partner Howard Metzger from 1945 - 1971. The 18th-c. house remains untouched since Metzger's death in 2005. The rich material culture collection includes American Colonial, Victorian & Colonial Revival furniture; porcelain, glass, & silver; paintings & decorative objects; & many personal belongings. The archives encompass Palmer's architectural papers & drawings; personal photographs; correspondence between Palmer & Metzger during WWII; & Metzger's correspondence & papers.
 
Connecticut Landmarks is preparing to open the property as Connecticut's first historic site focused primarily on presenting LGBTQ history. We need your help to raise $1 m to preserve & renovate the Palmer-Warner Barn to create a Visitor Welcome, Event & Exhibit Center. Please join us!
