Essex Annual Shad Bake

The Rotary Club of Essex and the Connecticut River Museum again partner to bring you a classic Connecticut Spring tradition: the Shad Bake.

Nailed on wooden planks around a bonfire, the shad takes on a smoky flavor. It is accompanied by plenty of sides and pie from Lyman's Orchard.

Programs on the history of the Connecticut Shad fishery are offered throughout the day. A shuttle service runs to the Museum from Town Hall and the Pratt House to ease parking congestion.

Cash bar. Hot dogs are available for children only. Tickets include one soda or water. If tickets are still available on the day of the event, they may be purchased at the door:  $40 for adults, $10 for children 10 and under.
