Opiates in Our Community:

and the Resources to Combat this Crisis

Connecticut loses hundreds of citizens every year to overdoses. Thousands more are addicted and still more are in recovery. Where are all the drugs coming from?

Detectives from the Statewide Narcotics Task Force along with State’s Attorney Peter McShane will lead a discussion on the abuse of prescription opiates, heroin sales, and the theft and diversion of narcotics – and what they’re doing about it.

Youth are especially vulnerable to addiction. Hartford Healthcare Director Patricia Rehmer will talk about the need for alcohol & drug counselors in our schools and her vision for a “Recovery High School” in Connecticut. Rushford Medical Director J. Craig Allen, MD will speak on trends in pill & heroin use, and doctors’ response to the crisis.   .
