John Ebel has been a professor of earth and environmental sciences at Boston College for more than thirty years. He is a research scientist at and former director of Boston College’s Weston Observatory, which is used to detect, locate, catalog, and study all earthquakes that occur in New England and vicinity. He holds a BA degree in physics from Harvard University and a PhD in geophysics from the California Institute of Technology.

The Connecticut River Museum is located at 67 Main Street, Essex and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 AM – 5 PM and closed on Mondays until Memorial Day.
